Description:
A ‘Subhashitam’ is a verse that provides wisdom on morals and ethics. Bhartruhari was a king of Ujjain who became a saint after the death of his wife Pingala, and left the throne to his brother Vikramaditya. Bhartruhari, as a saint, wrote 100 moral verses in Sanskrit language called Subhashitam, in three categories called Neeti, Shrungaram, Vairagyam. Later, a Telugu poet by name ‘Enugu Lakshmana Kavi’ translated these poems into Telugu language. This book gives summary of each Telugu poem with an associated Telugu story for each of 51 Neeti poems, 20 Shrungara poems and 30 Vairagya poems. These are moral stories, Purana love stories, and social life stories respectively.
